How to buy ads in Telegram channels in 2026: sponsored posts, marketplaces and vetting channels
In this guide
There are four ways to advertise in Telegram channels: agree a sponsored post directly with a channel admin, book through an ad marketplace, choose channels in the Yandex Direct catalogue, or run official Telegram Ads, where you do not buy a post at all. The process is the same every time: find channels, vet them, agree terms and ad labelling, then measure what each placement cost per subscriber or lead.
Here is how each route works, how to avoid channels with fake audiences and how sponsored posts compare with Telegram Ads.
Where can you buy ads in Telegram channels?
| Route | How it works | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Directly from the admin | Message the ad contact, agree the post, date and price | Flexible on format and price | Lots of back-and-forth, risk of unreliable channels |
| Ad marketplace | A catalogue of channels with prices; payment and posting through the service | Faster search and payment, channel stats included | Service fee, limited to the catalogue |
| Yandex Direct | A post in channels that belong to the Yandex Advertising Network | One account, labelling and reports | Partner channels only, posts stay up for 48 hours |
| Telegram Ads | An official ad below posts in channels with 1,000+ subscribers | No post to buy, easy to test many variants | Short format, billed in euros via a provider |

How do you find channels to advertise in?
- Channel catalogues and analytics services. Search by topic and check reach, subscriber growth and mentions.
- Telegram search. Use the words your audience uses for the topic, not your product name.
- Competitors’ ads. Where similar projects already advertise, the audience is likely to respond to your topic.
- Channel folders. Authors in one niche often share folders, which gives you a ready-made shortlist.
Drop channels that only match by name. In our online vocal school case, we excluded jazz, choir and recording channels: they looked similar but did not bring target leads.
How do you vet a channel before buying an ad?
| What to check | Warning sign |
|---|---|
| Post views vs subscribers | Very low views for a large base, or suspiciously identical numbers on every post |
| Subscriber growth | Sharp jumps with no ad campaign or viral post behind them |
| Hourly views | A flat line instead of a natural peak in the first hours |
| Reactions and comments | Generic comments, reactions unrelated to the content |
| Past sponsored posts | Ads every few hours, an audience tired of promotions |
| Audience | Location and language do not match your market |
Ask the admin for channel stats for recent weeks and results of past placements. If they refuse, pick another channel. The selection principles in How to choose Telegram Ads channels apply here too.
Which placement formats are there?
- 1/24, 2/48: the post stays at the top of the feed for one (or two) hours with no other posts, then remains in the channel for 24 (or 48) hours before deletion.
- Permanent: the post stays in the channel and keeps collecting views.
- Pinned: the post is pinned at the top for an agreed period.
- Native integration: the author writes about the product in their own words.
Before paying, confirm in writing: date and time, copy and visuals, how long the post stays up, whether it is pinned, a dedicated tracking link and ad labelling.
How much does an ad in a Telegram channel cost?
The channel owner sets the price, so compare channels by cost per thousand views (CPM), not by post price:
CPM = post price ÷ expected views × 1,000.
For example, a €60 post in a channel averaging 4,000 views costs €15 per thousand views. A €100 post with 12,000 views comes to about €8.30, which is better value despite the higher price.
What matters most is the cost per subscriber or lead after the placement. For comparison, a channel subscriber from Telegram Ads cost about €1.40 on average across our cases; see How much does Telegram Ads cost? and the cost calculator.
Ad labelling and regulation
Rules depend on the market. In Russia, online ads must be labelled with an advertiser mention and a registration token, and placement data is reported to an ad data operator. Since 2025, ads there may only be placed in channels with over 10,000 subscribers that are registered with the regulator. Agree who handles labelling before you pay; marketplaces and Yandex Direct usually take care of it.
How do you measure a sponsored-post campaign?
- Create a separate invite link (or bot or website link) for each channel.
- After the post goes live, record the price, post views, clicks and subscriptions from the link.
- Calculate cost per subscriber: post price ÷ subscriptions from the link.
- One to two weeks later, check how many stayed and how many became leads.
Buy again only where subscribers are cheaper and better than average. Drop channels with expensive or low-quality results, even if the post itself was cheap.
When is Telegram Ads better than buying posts?
Sponsored posts work when the author’s voice matters and you have a few strong niche channels. Telegram Ads is better for a steady flow of subscribers or leads: no negotiating with each admin, quick ad testing and the ability to switch off weak placements. In our furniture manufacturer case, Telegram Ads brought 6,065 subscribers at €1.49 over more than 12 months.
